In memory of Gaetano Borriello. He was our cherished friend and colleague, known far and wide for his contributions to mobile computing and technology for the developing world. Gaetano passed away on 1 February 2015 after battling cancer. His calm, inspiring, and uplifting presence will be deeply missed.


The ACM Special Interest Group on Mobility of Systems, Users, Data, and Computing
ACM SIGMOBILE is the international professoinal organization for scientists, engineers, executives, educators, and students dedicated to all things mobile. Some of the activities of SIGMOBILE and its members include:

Performing research in the theory and practice of all areas related to the mobility of systems, users, data, and computing;

Expanding the evolution of portable computers and wireless networks;

Supporting the convergence of mobility, computing, and information organization; and

Developing improved access, services, management, and applications for mobile computing and communications.

2015 SIGMOBILE Outstanding Contribution Award
Prof. Mario Gerla of UCLA has been named the winner of the 2015 SIGMOBILE Outstanding Contribution Award "for pioneering contributions to mobile computing, communications and wireless networking". The Award will be presented at MobiCom 2015.
2015 SIGMOBILE RockStar Award
Prof. Romit Roy Choudhury of UIUC has been named the winner of the 2015 SIGMOBILE RockStar Award "in recognition of significant contributions, early in his career, to mobile sensing and wireless networking, with an emphasis on location and cross-layer protocols". The Award will be presented at MobiCom 2015.
SIGMOBILE Mobile Computing Research Community Fund
Proposals are solicited for awards that support research projects and activities that have wide benefit to the mobile computing research community.
