Purpose
The Chapter is organized to promote in the Sydney area the following:
- Increased knowledge of and greater interest in the science, design, development and applications of modern computing in mobile systems.
- An interest in computer and wireless networks, addressing the convergence of mobility, computing and information organization, its access, services, management and applications.
- A means of communication and collaboration between persons having a common interest in the above-mentioned specialty.
- Collecting and disseminating information in the specialty
- Organizing informal sessions to discuss recent advances in mobile technologies.
- Organizing local events in collaboration with SIGMOBILE to promote industry and research community participation.
Activities
The activities of this Chapter may include:
- Organizing activities for professional development. These may include events such as technical workshops, student competitions, and talks from local community leaders.
- Develop forums for sharing expertise through technical exchange of ideas via email newsletter, email distribution lists and web pages that contain content that is locally important.
- Inviting ACM Distinguished Lecturers for invigorating talks by international experts.
- Nominating local experts for national and international recognition awards.
- Nominating students for scholarships and travel grants to attend SIGMOBILE conferences.
