Sydney Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Mobility of Systems, Users, Data and Computing (Sydney SIGMOBILE)

Purpose
The Chapter is organized to promote in the Sydney area the following:

Increased knowledge of and greater interest in the science, design, development and applications of modern computing in mobile systems.
An interest in computer and wireless networks, addressing the convergence of mobility, computing and information organization, its access, services, management and applications.
A means of communication and collaboration between persons having a common interest in the above-mentioned specialty.
Collecting and disseminating information in the specialty
Organizing informal sessions to discuss recent advances in mobile technologies.
Organizing local events in collaboration with SIGMOBILE to promote industry and research community participation.

Activities
The activities of this Chapter may include:

Organizing activities for professional development. These may include events such as technical workshops, student competitions, and talks from local community leaders.
Develop forums for sharing expertise through technical exchange of ideas via email newsletter, email distribution lists and web pages that contain content that is locally important.
Inviting ACM Distinguished Lecturers for invigorating talks by international experts.
Nominating local experts for national and international recognition awards.
Nominating students for scholarships and travel grants to attend SIGMOBILE conferences.
