Deploying a 4G LTE Network in a Research Environment

4G LTE is the industry standard for cellular and mobile communications today. Every major carrier has deployed this technology in the 700 MHz and 2.5-2.7 GHz band. However, there are roadblocks to deploy such a system for research purposes at academic institutions. The issues range from leasing spectrum from network operators to getting access to LTE base station hardware and programmable CPE’s. This discussion forum provides an overview of the complex challenges and aims to solve them and come up with a turnkey process for campus deployments of this technology.
