Camera-Ready Instructions
Step 1: Complete the Rights Management Form and Article Processing Charge (APC)
- Before submitting camera-ready versions, you need to complete the rights management form. You will be notified by email once these forms are available for signing.
- The corresponding author will receive a message containing the rights form. Once the form is submitted, a message will be sent that contains the text to be included on the title page of the paper/poster/demo/workshop.
- Because rights management emails are sent by an automated system, they may wind up in SPAM folders. Please make sure that you and your authors set email SPAM settings to allow emails from
rightsreview@acm.org. - This process includes the Article Processing Charge (APC) Settlement (more details below), which can either happen through an ACM Open membership or Author Payment. Publication in ACM is free to corresponding authors at ACM OPEN institutions. Otherwise, publishing a paper will require paying an APC.
- SIGMOBILE Financial Hardship Waiver (FHW): If the authors must pay an APC but cannot afford to do so during settlement, they can request an FHW during the eRights Publishing Workflow. To request an FHW, the corresponding author provides a justification and funding details of the research. The request is then routed to us, who approve or decline the request.
- If the FHW is approved, the authors go back to the Author Payment step, and the payment will be fully waived.
- In situations where one needs to apply for FHW, please apply as early as possible to ensure completion within the deadline.
Step 2: Format your Paper/Poster/Demo/Workshop
- Please adhere to the page limits specified in the corresponding call for papers/posters/demos/workshops.
- Camera-ready papers should adhere to the ACM templates that can be found at https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. Templates are provided for formatting papers in MS Word and LaTeX. In LaTeX, you should use
\documentclass[sigconf, 9pt]{acmart}. The ACM LaTeX template is also available on the Overleaf platform here. - Publications must use the “ACM-Reference-Format” numbered bibliography style.
- Please do NOT number the pages of your camera-ready version (page numbers are disabled by default in the ACM template).
- You should provide proper indexing information in the final version according to the ACM Computing Classification System (CCS). More information about the ACM CCS is available on the ACM CCS website.
- After completing the rights management form, you will be emailed the correct rights management text and bibliographic strip to place within your paper/poster/demo. It is essential that you add the text to your paper/poster/demo.
- Avoid using any special characters or non-standard fonts. We must be able to display and print your submission exactly as we receive it, using only standard tools and printers. We strongly suggest that you use only standard fonts embedded in the PDF file.
- PDFs should have Type 1 fonts (scalable), not Type 3 (bit-mapped). ACM cannot substitute font types. This really must be done in the source files before the PostScript or PDF is generated. If bit-mapped fonts are used, they may not display legibly in all PDF readers across all platforms, though they will print fine.
- All fonts should be embedded. Any PDF that is not deposited with fonts embedded will need to be corrected. To help you through this process, ACM has created documentation on how to embed your fonts here. Please download the ACM Digital Library optimal distiller settings file from here.
- You cannot change the list of the authors and their order in the final camera-ready version.
Step 3: Submit the Camera-ready Version
- Go to the same HotCRP URL where you submit your papers/posters/demos and edit your camera-ready version.
- Submit the source files and PDF of your camera-ready paper/poster/demo.
- The PDFs must have the complete rights text (bibliographic strip, ISBN, DOI, etc.). This information is emailed to authors after they complete their e-Rights forms and must be added to the paper/poster/demo.
- The PDFs are optimized for fast Web viewing.
- The PDFs are named according to the ACM convention: sequence-firstauthorlastname.pdf.
By submitting your article to an ACM Publication, you are hereby acknowledging that you and your co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM’s new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper/poster/demo, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.
Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper/poster/demo/workshop. ACM has been involved with ORCID from the start, and we have recently committed to collecting ORCID IDs from all our published authors. The collection process has started and will roll out as a requirement throughout 2026.
