ACM MobiCom 2003, the Ninth Annual International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking, will be held September 14-19, 2003, at the Westin Horton Plaza Hotel in beautiful, sunny San Diego, California.

MobiCom, sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE, serves as the premier international forum addressing networks, systems, algorithms, and applications that support the symbiosis of mobile computers and wireless networks. MobiCom is a highly selective, single-track conference, focusing on all issues in mobile computing and wireless and mobile networking at the link layer and above.

The conference program will include presentation of 27 technical papers describing the best of recent research in mobile computing and networking, plus exciting research demos, a panel discussion on security and privacy in wireless and mobile systems, a student poster session, two days of tutorials, and six full-day workshops. We look forward to seeing you in San Diego for MobiCom 2003!

  • NEW!  The Student Poster Session page now includes links to a two-page summary for each of the posters being presented at the session.

  • NEW!  Advance registration for MobiCom 2003 is now closed, although you may register on-site at the conference at the Westin Horton Plaza Hotel. On-site registration for the tutorials, conference, and workshops will begin at 7:30 AM Sunday, September 14. See the Advance Program for the schedule during which on-site registration will be open. We hope you will be able to join us for MobiCom 2003 in San Diego.

  • NEW!  We will have an IEEE 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless network available at the conference. Please bring your own wireless cards. There will also be a few wired PCs available for use.

  • NEW!  The Westin Horton Plaza Hotel is now fully sold out during the conference. An additional hotel has been arranged to handle the overflow. See the Hotel and Travel page details.

  • The 2003 SIGMOBILE Outstanding Contribution Award will be presented at MobiCom 2003 to Dr. Ian F. Akyildiz, Ken Byers Distinguished Chair Professor in Telecommunications, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. Professor Akyildiz will give an invited talk entitled "InterPlaNetary Internet: State-of-the-Art and Research Challenges" during lunch on Wednesday, September 17.

  • The Keynote Speaker for MobiCom 2003 will be Dr. Paul J. Kolodzy, Director of the Wireless Network Security Center (WiNSeC) at Stevens Institute of Technology; Dr. Kolodzy's previous work includes serving as Senior Spectrum Policy Advisor and Director of the Spectrum Policy Task Force at the United States FCC, and as a Program Manager at DARPA. The Keynote Speech will be on Tuesday morning, September 16.

  • The Conference Dinner Banquet will be a dinner cruise on Tuesday evening, September 16, aboard the Spirit of San Diego. Join us for breathtaking views of the San Diego skyline and San Diego bay. The cruise will offer an excellent dining experience, great views of San Diego, and opportunities for socializing with the other conference participants.
