MobiHoc 2012 will take place on the beautiful Hilton Head Island. Hilton Head is a relaxing resort town 20 miles north of Savannah Georgia and 95 miles south of Charleston South Carolina. According to Best in the World 2011 Readers' Choice Awards and reported by the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, Hilton Head Island was ranked as #9 Best Island in the U.S. It is also becoming a popular place for meetings and conventions.

Hilton Head features over 12 miles of pristine Atlantic Ocean beaches, numerous bays, creeks, rivers and sounds. The island offers a wide range of recreational activities, including 24 golf courses that have been carved by golf's most preeminent architect, over 300 tennis courts, popular art galleries and museums. It has more than 250 restaurants. The town of Hilton Head is well known for its "eco-friendly" development, which contributes to its natural beauty.

Travel

There are two airports that provide service flights to Hilton Head: 1) Hilton Head Airport (HHH), located approximately 5 miles (8 km) from all Island resorts, and 2) Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), located approximately 45 miles (72 km) south of the Island.

Efficient shuttle service is also available from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) as well as the Hilton Head Airport (HHH). Reservations may be made by calling 877-243-2050. Note: All passengers arriving into Savannah Airport must have a pre-arranged reservation.

You may also drive to the Hilton Head Island from I-95. From I-95: Take Exit 8 (eight miles from the Georgia border) and go east following signs to Hilton Head Island. This is Highway 278 and you will travel about 18 miles and then you cross the bridge to Hilton Head. Continue over the bridge and look for signs for the Cross Island Expressway. If you are going to the south end of the island (Shipyard, Coligny, Forest Beach, Sea Pines) stay to your left and use the expressway (Toll $1.25) to save time. Otherwise, keep right and stay on Highway 278 Business.
