The 1st ACM International Workshop on Sensor-Enhanced Safety and Security in Public Spaces (SESP 2012)
Workshop Website
Public spaces, such as airports, railway stations, or stadiums bring together large numbers of people on limited space to use a security-sensitive infrastructure. Electronic security systems may help to provide better and faster security and safety for the general public. Application scenarios may include intrusion detection and monitoring of large crowds in order to provide guidance in case of unexpected events (e.g., a mass panic). SESP 2012 is an international forum for researchers, developers, and practitioners to demonstrate new ideas, techniques, and tools that enable the design of inexpensive, flexible, resilient, and privacy-friendly security systems for enhanced security and safety in public spaces. Possible topics of interests include supporting networks, middleware design and methodologies, as well as new applications. More details can be found here.

Airborne Networks and Communications
Workshop Website
Airborne networks are mobile ad hoc networks consisting of manned and unmanned air vehicles as well as ground vehicles. The ability of air vehicles to communicate voice, video, and data without a fixed infrastructure offers enhanced safety and efficiency for Next Generation airborne networks. This workshop is an opportunity for researchers engaged in airborne networking to discuss state-of-the- art, share their research with their peers, and develop directions for future research in this emerging field. More details can be found here.

Emerging Name-Oriented Mobile Networking Design - Architecture, Algorithms, and Applications
Workshop Website
The concept of name-oriented networking has emerged recently as a promising direction for future Internet architectural research. This approach shifts communication paradigm from IP's focus on "where" in today's Internet to a data- oriented network architecture in which data, instead of nodes, becomes first-class entity and a data-name based scheme is used to fetch them. The objective of this workshop is to serve as a venue for researchers in ad-hoc networking area to present work-in-progress and up-to-date results on emerging protocols in the direction of data-centric, name-oriented approach, to provide an opportunity for a frank and systematic comparison of respective advantages and drawbacks of different design choices. More details can be found here.

The 2nd ACM International Workshop on Pervasive Wireless Healthcare
Workshop Website
The increasing overall cost of medical care have been the driven force for partially replacing the assistance of nursing staff by small health surveillance and communication equipment like sensors, networks, monitoring software, which is considered to be cost effective and would also increase life standard. However, to set up such platforms several issues along the communication chain should be resolved. The acquisition of medical information via a set of wireless sensors embedded in the patient himself, the treatment and use of this information either by a local contractor equipment or offset after transfer in 3G and/or WiFi connection to a data server, the access to the collected data, ...etc. are some of the important challenges that we have to consider. Each level represents a fairly complex subsystem with a local hierarchy employed to ensure efficiency, portability, security, and reduced cost.
MobiHealth workshop aims to provide a forum for the interaction of these multiple areas as an important chance to discuss and understand what aspects have to be considered to provide effective pervasive wireless healthcare systems. More details can be found here.
