The increasing overall cost of medical care have been the driven force for partially replacing the assistance of nursing staff by small health surveillance and communication equipment like sensors, networks, monitoring software, which is considered to be cost effective and would also increase life standard. However, to set up such platforms several issues along the communication chain should be resolved. The 3rd edition of MobileHealth workshop (MobileHealth 2013) aims at providing a forum for practitioners and researchers from Academia, research labs and industry to interact and exchange experiences about theoretical and practical aspects of pervasive wireless healthcare networking and systems.
