Proposals for poster presentations featuring early research work and preliminary results are strongly encouraged and solicited. MobiCom 2008 will host an ACM Student Research Competition (SRC). Students submitting to the MobiCom 2008 Poster Session can opt to have their posters considered also by the SRC committee. Selected competitors will receive up to $500 USD for their conference travel, depending on need, and will earn a chance to compete in the SRC Grand Finals. The winners will be recognized at the Annual ACM Awards Banquet. Competitors should be prepared to attend the poster session and, if selected for further competition, give a short talk about their research projects. Winners will be announced at the conference. The Student Research Competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students whose submissions are accepted by the SRC committee. To be considered, complete a submission to the Poster Session and indicate that you would like to participate in the SRC. Current ACM student membership and student status as of the submission deadline are required for the lead student.
Descriptions of the research to be presented in the proposed poster, consisting of no more than 3 (US letter size 8.5 x 11 inches) pages (including figures, tables, etc.) using font size not smaller than 10 in PDF format, should be submitted to the Poster Chair Katia Obraczka (katia "at" soe "dot" ucsc "dot" edu) by the submission deadline below. All submissions will be reviewed by a committee. If your submission is selected for the poster session, you will receive information regarding the size of the poster board, etc., so that you can prepare a poster for the student poster session. A subset of the posters selected for the poster session will be entered into the Student Research Competition (SRC). The committee will evaluate the SRC poster presentations, with the additional criteria of oral and visual clarity, and select three finalists from each category. Each finalist will give a formal presentation, in the same style as the regular conference paper presentations. The SRC committee will finally vote and rank the finalists. The winners will be announced at the conference. Please note that if your poster is selected for the Student Research Competition, you will need to attend the conference. If you are chosen as a finalist, you will also be required to make a presentation. Current ACM student membership and student status as of the submission deadline are required for the lead student for SRC submissions.
