  MobiCom 2008 Hotel
 
MobiCom 2008 will be held in San Francisco Bay Area, September 14-19, 2008. at the San Francisco Airport Marriott.

A block of rooms has been arranged at the San Francisco Airport Marriott at a discounted rate of $169 for MobiCom 2008 attendees. These rates are exclusive of applicable state and local taxes. Please note that there are a limited number of rooms at this discounted rate.

The cutoff date for making hotel reservations at this discounted rate is August 23. Click here to make an online reservation.

The San Francisco Airport Marriott is a magnificent hotel situated just minutes from the San Francisco International Airport. The hotel provides a complimentary 24-hour shuttle to and from the Airport as well as the BART train station.

   Visa Support Letters 

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) does not issue formal invitation letters for visas. However, we can issue a visa support letter. If you need a visa support letter, please send your request to Laura Bucci at bucci!!!@!!!hq.acm.org with the following information:

  • Name and mailing address as it appears on your passport.
  • The name of the conference you wish to attend.
  • Registration confirmation number.
  • If you are the author of any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title.
  • Fax number (visa support letters are not issued via email).

   MobiCom Student Travel Grants 

The ACM MobiCom 2008 executive committee is pleased to announce the MobiCom Student Travel Grants program sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation. Applications are invited from students studying in accredited U.S. institutions. Each awarded student will be reimbursed (based on the valid receipts) for up to $900 (local student) or $1200 (non-local student) for his/her expenses after the conference is over.

Before preparing the travel grant application, please note that the student applying for the travel grant must satisfy the following three conditions to be qualified for the travel grant:

  • The student has registered (or will register) to attend ACM MobiCom 2008. Students presenting papers in a workshop MUST also register for the conference in order to apply for the student travel grant.
  • The student will stay with the San Francisco Airport Marriott, the hotel designated by the ACM MobiCom2008 conference. Please remember to make reservation with the hotel in advance.
  • The student will fly with a US-based carrier. According to NSF policy only airfare on a US-based carrier will be reimbursed.
An application for a student travel grant will consist of: (a) A letter from the student, including, if appropriate, the title and the author list of any paper accepted by MobiCom 2008 or the co-located workshops; (b) supporting letter from the student's advisor; and (c) the student's vita. Note that having a paper accepted is not a requirement for a student travel grant.

The letter from the student should include: a brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date, and a statement about why the conference attendance is important to the student.

The advisor's recommendation letter for the student should include: confirmation that the student is a Ph.D. or M.S. student in a good academic standing, and ways this particular student would benefit from attendance at the conference.
