   About the Conference Venue

MobiCom will be held from 16-20 Oct 2017. The conference will take place at the Snowbird Resort, a short distance from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Snowbird Resort is a year-round mountain resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon, a popular outdoor recreation destination. It is nestled among dramatic mountains at 8,000 feet, with spectacular views from guest rooms and meeting rooms, and with ample opportunities literally right outside the door. The Cliff Lodge, where most MobiCom activities will take place, is one of the West's iconic ski lodges, and is newly refurbished for 2017. The Summit, where the MobiCom banquet will be held, is on the top of Hidden Peak at 11,000 feet, with panoramic views of the Wasatch Mountains. The resort also has a full complement of restaurants and nightlife. Snowbird is conveniently located 40 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport, a major airline hub.

Conference Location:
The Cliff Lodge at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort
9385 S. Snowbird Center Dr
Snowbird, UT 84092

   Hotel Reservation

The cutoff date to receive the conference rate is September 14, 2017.

The conference rate with the hotel is $169 (single) / $179 (double) for rooms in the Cliff Lodge property. (This rate includes a $10 "resort fee" needed for WiFi access, but does not include tax).

Online reservation can be made at https://reservations.snowbird.com using the group code ACM017. (We recommend entering the group code before doing a room search as that will automatically select the correct resort property.)

Alternatively reservations can be made by calling 1-800-453-3000 or emailing lodging@snowbird.com. Be sure to mention you are associated with the MobiCom conference to get the negotiated rate.

There is a special student rate of $159 (single) / $159 (double) for rooms in the Lodge at Snowbird property. (Again this rate includes the $10 "resort fee" needed for WiFi access, but does not include tax.) Reservations for the student rate have to be done via phone or email.

   Transportation

Snowbird is a resort destination in Little Cottonwood Canyon, a 40 minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport. All events are in or near the conference hotel, so it will not be necessary to rent a car.

Shuttle from Canyon Transportation

The recommended way to get to Snowbird is to pre-arrange a ride from Canyon Transportation [http://canyontransport.com]. The rate is $76 round-trip when arranged in advance.

Ride-Sharing Service

Both Uber and Lyft serve the Salt Lake City area. The estimated fare is $36 - $47 each way (depending on "surge pricing", etc.)

Car Rental

While a car is not required for participation in conference activities, should you want to rent one, there are several agencies on-site at the Salt Lake City International Airport: https://www.slcairport.com/parking-and-transportation/rental-cars-2/. Driving directions can be found here: https://goo.gl/maps/mK6S3WbbW9J2. Note that Snowbird has four entrances: you are looking for The Cliff Lodge, which is at Entrance 4.

Taxi

Taking a Taxi from Salt Lake International Airport is possible, but not recommended: taxis have been deregulated in Salt Lake City, and prices can vary significantly and unpredictably.

   Weather Preparation

MobiCom is being held in the fall in a mountain location, so we recommend that you come prepared for cold weather. Historic averages for the venue at this time of year are a high of 48F (9C) and a low of 30F (-1C). The banquet on Wednesday will be held on a mountaintop at 11,000 ft (3,300 m), so cold weather, wind, and even light snow are possible.

There are many hiking trails in the areas; if you intend to make use of them, sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.

   Recreational Opportunities

Snowbird is a year-round resort, and there will be many recreational opportunities before and after the conference.

Hiking and Biking [http://www.snowbird.com/summer/trails/]

The Snowbird Tram will be down for maintenance during your event. Those attending the October 18th catered event function will be riding the Tram to and from the Summit venue on that night only.
