A masterpiece of the military Renaissance architecture, the Fortezza da Basso was planned by Antonio da Sangallo il Giovane and commissioned by Duke Alessandro de’ Medici, and it was built between 1534 and 1537. The Fortezza da Basso has always been the main venue of the exhibition center in Florence since 1967 and it is strategically located in the historic city centre.

This complex and prestigious environment combines charming and perfectly restored historic places (such as the Quartieri Monumentali – the Monumental Area – or the Polveriera) with modern pavilions, specifically built to increase the space availability, such as the Spadolini Pavilion, built on three floors (opened in 1977) and the more recently built Cavaniglia Pavilion (opened in 1996).

Following these requirements, differentiated ways were organised, allowing exhibitors to access internal areas even with large trucks, and allowing visitors to benefit from various city connections (taxis, buses and trams) with the international airport Amerigo Vespucci, the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella and the numerous parking areas nearby.

Hotel accommodation can be reserved at reduced rates in Florence through the Organizing Secretariat OIC. Participants may proceed with the on-line reservation system: https://meeting.oic.it/EventWeb/EventWebNavigationController_156.html?ln=EN

In order to have the possibility to reserve hotel rooms through the reservation platform, please select "MOBISYS" as ROLE in the anagraphical page.

A variety of different hotels at different price points are available. Room/night rates and availabilities are only applicable for reservations made through Organizing Secretariat OIC, and received by 20 April 2015 at the latest.

The complete list of the hotels with rates, availability and location is available at the bottom of this page and into the on-line registration platform or can be received by contacting the Organizing Secretariat OIC. All the selected hotels are walking distance form the congress venue.

All the rates are shown in Euro, per room per night and include breakfast, VAT and service. A local touristic tax will be charged by the hotels in addition to the rooms’ costs, payable upon check-out:

• € 4,00 per person per night for reservations in 4 star hotels
• € 3,00 per person per night for reservations in 3 star hotels.

• € 4,50 per person per night for reservations in 4 star hotels
• € 3,50 per person per night for reservations in 3 star hotels.

After the above mentioned deadline accommodation cannot be guaranteed although OIC will make every effort to meet the participants’ requests upon availability.

Agencies or companies in need for group reservations higher than 5 rooms follow a dedicated procedure by contacting the Organizing Secretariat OIC directly at registrationswww2015@oic.it

Any change or cancellation in connection with registration fees and hotel reservations must be sent in writing to O.I.C. s.r.l., Fax +39 055 5035230, E-mail registrationswww2015@oic.it.

The below policy is valid for individual bookings only. For groups’ reservations of more than 5 rooms, a different policy will be applied.

• within 10 January 2015: only € 25,00 will be withheld for administrative charge
• within 10 March 2015: one night accommodation will be withheld as penalty charge
• from 11 March 2015: no refund will be made for cancellations or last minute changes.
• No-shows: 100% of the foreseen total amount will be withheld as penalty charge.

Transportation to the Convention Centre

From the main train station: From the main train station you can reach the Congress Centre in 5 minutes walking.

From the airport: A bus connection (Linea-Volainbus) is operating from the airport to the city centre (main station) every 20-25 minutes.

Taxis: Taxis in Florence can be ordered by phone (Tel. +39 055 4242 or 4390) or found at the official taxi stands. You cannot stop a taxi on the road.

Bus: Florence has a comprehensive network of local bus routes. Most of them stop at the main railway station and therefore near to the convention venue. Bus tickets can be purchased at most coffee bars and kiosks. Fare is €1,20 multiple trips, valid up to 60 minutes.

Car parking: There are several paying parking areas around the Congress Centre.

Visa Support

The Association for Computing Machinery does not issue formal invitation letters for visas to attend ACM sponsored conferences. They can however issue a visa support letter. For Visa support letters, please send all requests to bronzino@winlab.rutgers.edu (for registration status check) and include the following information:

1. Your name as it appears on your passport
2. Current postal mailing address
3. The name of the conference you wish to attend
4. Your Registration Confirmation Number
5. If you have any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title and indicate whether you are the ‘sole author’ or a ‘co- author’
6. Your institution name
7. Passport Number

Please note visa support letters are issued via email by PDF and the original is mailed to your current postal address.
