ACM MobiCom 2026 Networking Networking Women Professional Development Program (N2Women’26 at ACM MobiCom)


The N2Women program at ACM MobiCom 2026 aims to foster professional networking among women in mobile computing, wireless networking, and related research fields where women have traditionally been underrepresented.

Its goal is to:

  • Connect newer generations of networking women researchers with the community and create mentorship relationships;
  • Create a research forum where students and junior researchers can learn about and discuss current trends in mobile computing and wireless networking, present their research, and receive constructive feedback;
  • Engage a diverse body of junior researchers in the field.

The program welcomes women, but also underrepresented minorities of any gender identity, students, and men who share the same research interests and face the same career hurdles.

We hope you join us for a list of events, including keynote, mentorship sessions, and technical sessions where, in particular, junior researchers will present their research as poster presentations.

Title: Learning for Spectrum Awareness, Spatial Intelligence, and Robustness to Hardware Impairments

Abstract: Next-generation wireless systems are evolving beyond the pursuit of higher data rates toward intelligent radio networks capable of supporting dense user connectivity, improved spectral efficiency, and integrated sensing and communication. Under this vision, wireless infrastructure is expected not only to exchange information but also to sense, localize, and adapt to the surrounding environment.  In this talk, I will present recent research on integrating intelligence into wireless systems through three representative applications. First, I will discuss AI-driven approaches for wideband spectrum sensing that combine signal detection, classification, and RF fingerprinting using complex-valued neural networks. Second, I will present learning-based techniques for user localization, tracking, and spatial prediction based on deep learning, hypernetworks, and in-context learning. Third, I will discuss in-context learning approaches for sample-efficient adaptive self-interference cancellation, enabling robust full-duplex operation under realistic hardware impairments and time-varying conditions. Finally, I will introduce ongoing research on learning-enabled channel estimation and super resolution angle-of-arrival estimation in large-scale MIMO systems.

Bio: Danijela Cabric is a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received M.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001 and Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in 2007, both in Electrical Engineering. In 2008, she joined UCLA as an Assistant Professor, where she heads Cognitive Reconfigurable Embedded Systems lab. Her current research projects include novel radio architectures, signal processing, communications, machine learning for spectrum sharing, millimeter-wavesystems, and large scale antenna arrays with applications to sensing and communications. She has been a principal investigator in the large cross-disciplinary multi-university centers including SRC/JUMP ComSenTer and CONIX, NSF SpectrumX and ARO CLASSIC. Prof. Cabric was a recipient of the Samueli Fellowship in 2008, the Okawa Foundation Research Grant in 2009, HellmanFellowship in 2012, the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2012, and Qualcomm Faculty Awards in 2020 and 2021. Prof. Cabric is an IEEE Fellow.


N2Women Student Travel Grants


N2Women will provide travel grants to more than 15 students selected from the MobiCom 2026 Student Travel Grant applicant pool. No separate application is required for the N2Women travel grant.

In alignment with the mission of N2Women, priority will be given to applicants who are women, or members of groups that are underrepresented in their country of residence.

Recipients of an N2Women travel grant will be required to participate actively in all N2Women program events and present a poster.


Poster Participation


Students selected for an N2Women travel grant will be asked to submit a short abstract describing the research they plan to present. The abstract and poster will not be included in the conference proceedings and may describe ongoing work or work currently under submission elsewhere.

Submission instructions, the abstract format, and the deadline will be provided directly to selected recipients by email.

Presenting a poster offers students an opportunity to share their research, receive feedback, and connect with researchers in the mobile computing and wireless networking community.

A Best Poster Award will be presented, and runners-up will receive honorable mentions.


Mentoring Panels and Call for Panelists


The N2Women program will offer a 30-mins mentoring panel along with 20-mins small-group mentoring sessions for students and junior researchers with one of the mentors. In an effort to broaden participation, we are soliciting applications to be a mentor on the program. We encourage researchers of all gender identities and different career phases to apply here.


Travel Support


The travel grants are intended to support students attending the N2Women program in person. This year, N2Women is considering the applicants of the MobiCom 2026 travel grants as the potential pool of N2Women travel grant applicants. Details regarding the award amount, eligible expenses, and reimbursement process will be provided directly to selected recipients.

Call for N2Women Young Researcher Fellowship


N2Women is pleased to announce the continuation of our N2Women Young Researcher Fellowship awards. N2Women considers you a young researcher if you are currently a student. These awards will partially cover a young researcher's travel cost (up to $1000) to a meeting where an N2Women event will be held. In exchange, the young researcher must help organize the N2Women meeting. The benefit of doing the organization, in addition to the travel funds, is for the young researcher to connect with the organizers of the conference who are, typically, leaders in the research field. We will arrange for a mentor (senior person in the area) to assist and mentor the young researcher in this task.

Support for these N2Women Young Researcher Fellowship awards has been generously provided by ACM SIGMOBILE, ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE Computer Society (CS), Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC), and Google.
